About

Sofia is an Argentine artist currently based in Amsterdam . Dancer, performer, educator, choreographer, researcher, and feminist, she carries her Latinoamerican roots in all aspects of her work.

Her first performances took place at home, dancing in front of her family at the age of five. Her professional journey began years later with formal studies at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Starting in 2009, she trained in contemporary dance, and later dedicated many years to the study of urban dances. Alongside her dance education, she also trained as an actress and piano player.

Since 2013, Sofia has taught workshops in both public and private institutions, in open classes and educational programs throughout Argentina, Spain, and the Netherlands.

In Argentina during 2013 till 2019 she worked in Film, Theatre, Dance Companies and Television Programs both as a dancer and actress. After working with several contemporary companies and projects, she moved to Europe in 2019.

Her first choreographic work «La Pacha “ delves into the realm of feminine energy and the moon cycle. This piece, which premiered in Amsterdam in 2023 and received support from Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst, brought together women from diverse cultures to weave their personal experiences. Sofia’s choreographic site specific work combined movement, sound and spoken word.

Her dedication to teaching expanded to a method she crafted in 2022. ‘Movement Laboratory’ A practice of improvisation and composition.  This methodology emerges from spending hours practicing and searching for tools to explore the response of the body to diverse scenic variables; movement, sound & voice, music, space and others. Sofia’s workshops attract both professionals and non-professionals, creating a dynamic and inclusive space for exploration. “Movement Laboratory” is currently holding sessions on a weekly basis in Amsterdam.

Sofia has worked as a performer for various theater, site specific projects and dance makers such as: Amsterdam Nationale Opera & Ballet (Netherlands), Soren Siebel (Germany), Mayke Van Delhuizen (Netherlands), Fernando Oliveira (Brasil), Maria Pisiou (Greece).

Additionally, she creates her solo work performed in several venues and festivals throughout the Netherlands, Berlin and Argentina. In 2025, Sofia received a grant from the Cultuurfonds to develop ‘Centuria’. This dance piece delves into her heritage, family history (a shared spine condition) and Latin American roots. This work will premiere in 2026.

Sofia’s work is rooted in magical realism, a Latin American concept through which she explores distorted realities in a poetic and evocative way — where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Through this lens, she explores poetic distortions of reality, revealing emotional and symbolic layers.

Currently, she is working towards her next dance-theater immersive performance ‘SAPUKAI’, to be premiered in 2026.
